The first ever Evangelistic Congress of the Meridian Ghana Conference (MGC) chapter of Ghana Adventists Choir Union (GACU) took place in Ada Foah from 17th to 22nd April, 2018 at the premises of College of Education with a total attendance of 300 choristers representing 28 choirs from the 16 districts of the Conference. The theme for the congress, ‘Proclaiming the Prophetic Message Through Music’ reflected in the community activities such as daily route marches with singing and distribution of evangelistic tracts, dawn preaching with singing, live music performance on Ada Radio, evangelistic visitation of the Paramount Chief of Ada, Nene Djetse Abraham Kabu Akuaku III and the chief of Ada Foah, Nene Lomo IV and many more during their stay at Ada Foah. In addition to regular prayer sessions for revival, lectures on Choral Management, Music in Worship, Non-musical Discipline, and many more were delivered with renowned music masters such as Newlove Annan and Emmanuel Boahene and others as resource persons.
Participants, Offei Adjei Felicia from Madina Central and others, expressed their joy in participating in such an inspiring and fun-filled congress. They stressed the fact that they saw old faces, had variety of games, and enjoyed the evening musical renditions by zonal choirs as well as the drama. Some suggested that tours should be added to future congresses activities. Mr. Newlove Annan commented that the congress was such a great experience as it benefitted all participants in learning together. He added that the MGC GACU is on the right track of preparing choristers who will understand the place of church music in the overall frame of our ministry to the world- where the gospel and the Advent message is concerned. The Music Director of MGC and the main organizer of the Congress, Pastor I. K. Donkor, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all churches who sponsored their choirs to participate. Pastor Donkor said the 2018 MGC GACU Congress was the best so far by the grace of God because the mission to revive MGC choristers and impact the community of Ada Foah was fulfilled.
